Regulating Offshore Electricity Infrastructure in the North Sea
Towards a New Legal Framework
Ceciel Nieuwenhout
The current legal framework on offshore electricity transmission infrastructure to connect offshore wind farms was not developed with a meshed offshore grid (MOG) in mind. As a result, there are several legal barriers which need to be addressed in order to facilitate the development of a MOG in the North Sea. This dissertation answers the central research question “What legal framework should be implemented in order to facilitate the cost-effective development of a MOG in the North Sea?"
