using cardiotocography in complicated pregnancies to support these hypotheses regarding its effects on perinatal outcome, safety, patient preference and costs. In the Netherlands, a number of obstetric centers currently provide either or both home- based monitoring and telemonitoring to women with high-risk pregnancies. It is unknown to which extent these strategies are used, for which reasons, or for which pregnancy complications. This information is relevant for clinicians planning to use a telemonitoring strategy in prenatal care. The aim of this national survey study is to determine the number of obstetric hospitals in the Netherlands that provide home- and telemonitoring, and to identify the current practice of out-of-hospital care in in high-risk pregnancy.
