38 Chapter 2 RESULTS Between 2000 and 2015, 22 patients with HIE underwent autopsy and had good quality sections of the vermis stained for H&E available for examination. Clinical data are presented in Table 2. All patients died from irreversible brain injury after redirection of care. Three infants were treated with hypothermia for less than 72 hours, because therapeutic hypothermia was stopped based on clinical decision making. Of the included patients, nine had missing values for some of the lobules. This is also specified in Table 2. Table 2: Patient characteristics.
