63 Variation in immediate breast reconstruction A second analysis was performed to identify variation in the use of IBR between hospitals using the adjusted data based on observed/expected calculations (i.e., case-mix adjustment for predicting factors of IBR). All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS (SPSS for MAC Version 20.0; SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL). RESULTS Patient characteristics In total, 16,953 patients underwent a mastectomy for invasive M0 breast cancer (n=15,072) or DCIS (n=1881) in one of the 92 hospitals in the Netherlands. Results are separately presented for invasive breast cancer and DCIS. Patient and tumor characteristics by reconstruction status are shown in Table 1 for invasive breast cancer and Table 2 for DCIS. 4
