Restrained inflammation and neonatal WMI in viral encephalitis 63 5 IFNβ, IFNγ, chemokine (C-C motif) ligand (CCL)2 or monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP)- 1, CCL3 or Macrophage Inflammatory Protein (MIP-1α), CCL4 or MIP-1β, CCL5 or Regulated upon Activation, Normal T cell Expressed and Secreted (RANTES), CCL7 or MCP-3, CCL19 or MIP-3β, chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand (CXCL)9 or Monokine Induced by Gamma interferon (MIG) and CXCL10 or Interferon gamma-induced protein (IP)10. Aspecific heterophilic immunoglobulins were pre-absorbed from all samples with HeteroBlock (Omega Biologicals, Bozeman MT, USA). Acquisition was performed with the FlexMAP3D (Biorad laboratories, Hercules USA) in combination with xPONENT Software, version 4.2 (Luminex). Data analysis was performed with Bioplex Manager 6.1.1 (BioRad). Statistical analysis Basic descriptive statistics were used to describe the patient population. All statistical analyses were performed using either GraphPad Prism 6 or SPSS Statistics 21 (IBM). Values below the lower limit of detection were set to the lowest detected value. Hierarchical cluster analysis was performed using Omniviz 6.1.2 (Instem scientific). P values less than 0.05 were considered significant.
