Most frequently reported reasons to deviate from the guideline were: patient’s or parent’s preference for a different laxative (29% [CI 24-35%]), unfamiliarity with the guideline (27% [CI 23-33%]), insufficient clinical response to the maximum recommended dosage (26% [CI 21-31%]), patient or parental preference for a different treatment than laxatives (19% [CI 15-24%]).
