16 Chapter 1 Before implementing Movakic in practice its statistical properties had to be assessed. Chapter 4 and 5 form the core of this thesis, presenting the reliability (chapter 4) and validity and responsiveness (chapter 5) of Movakic. Data on these psychometric properties of Movakic were obtained in a longitudinal study, with the help of a range of Dutch physiotherapists and their clients with SMD. After this study on statistical properties we applied Movakic in a clinical study. One of our hypotheses was that motor abilities affects quality of life. In chapter 6, results are presented of the relationships between motor abilities and quality of life of children with SMD. The general discussion in chapter 7 describes the main results of this research project and other relevant findings observed during its development and evaluation, including critical reflections and recommendations for the implementation of Movakic in clinical practice as well as for intervention studies using the instrument.
