20 Chapter one Chapter 10: We describe the microbiological profile of infectious complications in patients with cardiac arrest and studied the effects of prophylactic antibiotics on these infections. We also examined the impact of TTM at 33°C compared to TTM at 36°C on the microbiological profile of these infections. We hypothesized that use of prophylactic antibiotic use would be associated with less infectious complications in cardiac arrest patients. The final chapters provide a general discussion of the studies in this thesis in Chapter 11 and Dutch summary in chapter 12.
