Development over time of almond production per tree per treatment. Brown line indicates compost (CM), blue is conventional tillage (CT), yellow is green manure (GM) and red is no tillage (NT). The dashed grey line gives the tree production over time in a nearby almond farm as a reference. This reference data is received from CEBAS institute and the results of 2009-2011 are published in Almagro et al. (2016), Martínez-Mena et al. (2013) and (Martin-Gorriz et al., 2020). These reference data demonstrate the alternate bearing behavior of almond trees, with lower production in odd years. This, in combination with a cold spring causing frost, explains the low productivity of our experiment in 2017.
