New bone formation in allotransplants We sampled areas of new bone formation between areas of double fluorochrome label using laser-capture microdissection. Significantly, only 3 of the 11 (group 1) allotransplants expressed any SRY . New bone was formed in the remainder entirely by autogenous (female) cells. We also found significantly lower relative copy numbers of SRY in both groups, when compared to male bone controls (p=0.004) (Fig. 5). The mean relative copy number SRY in the patent AV bundle group (Group 1) was 1.42x10 -4 (SD 2.3x10 -4 ), and 1.29x10 -3 (SD 2.89x10 -3 ) in group 2. Male control levels were much higher: 6.0x10 -2 (SD 1.0x10 -2 ). Figure 5: q-PCR analyses on gDNA from areas of new bone formation captured by LCM.
