We can only stress once more that flourishing is a matter of degree, and that it is important to keep in mind the distinction between the ideal of flourishing and the expectations with regard to what human beings can realise – the criteria need not be applied so strictly to a ‘real’ life as to demand perfection. Moreover, flourishing is not about winning, or becoming better than the rest. Flourishing is about self- knowledge, making good choices and creating a balance in a ‘whole’ life.
