270 | SUMMARY evaluation, when making decisions about an individual’s FDM capability. It is, furthermore, important to examine the financial competence, financial performance and influential contextual factors. Therefore, in the current thesis, a new FDM test battery has been introduced that evaluates not only the financial competence of an individual, but also their financial performance and related contextual factors. The FDM test battery showed adequate divergent validity and reliability and was found to be able to identify strengths and weaknesses regarding different aspects of FDM in both patients and healthy controls. The FDM test battery as proposed in this thesis is, however, not yet suitable for use in clinical practice, because of (1) the absence of normative data, (2) the extensiveness and duration of the test battery and (3) the fact that the psychometric properties of the FDM tests and questionnaires need further investigation. Therefore, more research is needed in order to increase the predictive value of the FDM tests and questionnaires which enables reliable, valid and ethical decisions about an individual’s FDM capability and the use of the FDM test battery in clinical practice. Nevertheless, our research adds valuable information to contemporary FDM research. To be continued…
