Although such a heterogeneous group of patients and implants might represent a true cross- section of the society, it makes it very difficult to compare the effect of the therapies in specific subgroups of patients, e.g. cases with mild versus severe peri-implantitis or smokers versus non-smokers. Future studies are needed to evaluate the effect of therapy in these specific groups of cases. 3
