General introduction 17 1 In Chapter 6, we explore possible applications of the SEI-HS in public health monitoring, research and policy. We test SE, as measured with the SEI-HS, against traditional social stratifiers in terms of the ability to identify high-risk/high-need population segments. For this study, we use G4 2016 Public Health Monitor data. Chapter 7 summarises the main findings, reflects on the limitations and strengths of the study, and discusses its main findings. Finally, implications for local public health monitoring as well as future research, policy and practice are discussed.
