129 Significance of loose tumor cells in pulmonary arteries Conclusions In most NSCLC resection specimens, CK7+ tumor cells were detected in the lumen of pulmonary arteries. The presence of these tumor cells was not associated with worse OS. The arguments discussed are strongly in favor of an iatrogenic artifact, probably created during gross handling of the resection specimen. It is important to be aware of this artifact as a frequent cause of intravascular tumor cells, observed in resection specimens. 10
