Cellular anatomy of tomato stems in response to far-red light 2 35 aspects of leaflets might have changed, such as pigment composition or cellular structure. We first followed up with fresh and dry weight measurements of leaf discs of fixed area. Both the fresh weight and the dry weight decreased in response to FR in MM, with a similar trend in M82 (Figure 2.8). This indicates that the plants may have formed leaf area with reduced investment in carbon, thus making relatively cheaper leaves.
