96 Chapter 4 the multivariate logistic model. We retained age, sex, HIV status and alcohol use (selected apriori) in the final multivariate model, and predictors were deemed significant at p<0.05. We used Stata 17 (Stata Corp LP, College Station, Texas, USA) for statistical analysis and the Hosmer Lemeshow Goodness of Fit test to assess the fitness of the multivariate logistic model. Ethical review and approval Ethical review and approval for the study were done by the Eswatini Health and Human Research Review Board (EHHRRB) (Ref: EHHRRB 036/2021). The Eswatini Ministry of Health also granted permission to ease access to health facilities. Results Descriptive characteristics of participants We enrolled 369 participants in the study, and the baseline blood glucose was available for 352 participants. For the 2nd and 5th month visits, 235 and 262 participants had documented blood glucose, respectively (Figure 1). At baseline, more males were included compared to females (male-female ratio 1.2), and the mean age was 38.4 years (SD 12.9); 42.2 years (SD 12.3) in patients with elevated blood glucose and 38.1 years (SD 13.1) in those with normal blood glucose (Table 1). The mean BMI was 22.4 (SD: 5.2), and the TB-HIV coinfection rate was 76%.
