APPENDIX B: DESCRIPTION OF THE CURRENT MBS EPA Translation of the current SCHERP Module Bariatric Surgery (GI) The resident: a. Has knowledge of the anatomy and (patho)physiology of the upper part of the digestive tract, the epidemiology and biology of severe obesity. b. Masters the work-up of severe obesity, has eye on the effective use of diagnostics, has knowledge of the different treatment options and can draw up and present a multidisciplinary treatment plan in a multidisciplinary transfer. c. Has knowledge of current national and international treatment guidelines and the applicable standards of the professional association (NVvH). d. Knows the complications of the various treatment options, knows his or her level of expertise and knows when consultation with, or referral to, an expertise center is indicated. e. Can perform a primary gastric bypass independently (level D). f. Can perform a primary sleeve gastrectomy independently (level D). g.
