Mirjam Kaijser

CURRICULUM VITAE Mirjam Anna Kaijser was born on July 16th, 1984 in Utrecht, the Netherlands. She attended college Blaucapel, nowadays Gerrit Rietveld college. After completing the Gymnasium in 2002, she moved to Groningen to study Medicine and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Groningen. In 2007 she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence. After her clinical rotations in the Martini Hospital Groningen and a final rotation at Deventer Hospital she obtained her medical degree in 2008. Surgical ambitions led to an internship at Deventer Hospital under the wings of dr. M. Eeftinck Schattenkerk, followed by the surgical residency program at the University Medical Centre Groningen and Medical Centre Leeuwarden, under guidance of prof. H.J. ten Duis, dr. J.S. de Graaf and prof. E.J. Heineman. During the Leeuwarden residency she was introduced to metabolic bariatric surgery and took interest in the subject, which, combined with an interest in education, led to this thesis. In 2016 – 2017 surgical training was completed with a fellowship in (laparoscopic) gastrointestinal surgery at the University Medical Centre Groningen and Medical Centre Leeuwarden under supervision of dr. J.W. Haveman and prof. J.P.E.N. Pierie. Currently she is working at the Medical Centre Leeuwarden as a gastro-intestinal and metabolic bariatric surgeon and member of Heelkunde Friesland.
