Further research on secondary prevention of CHD should address prospectively the role of awareness on risk factor control, opportunities and challenges to improve recording of risk factor information, and addressing the burden of health inequalities by use of an intersectional perspective. The representativeness and impact of surveys in secondary prevention can be improved. Use of real-world pre-existing data, survey designs that combine pragmatic and in-depth approaches, and collaborative efforts between existing surveys can optimize efforts and improve the impact of surveys on research, practice, and policy in secondary prevention.
