218 the picture emerging from international research on teachers' knowledge of text structure (Beerwinkle et al., 2018; Kucan et al., 2011; Reutzel et al., 2016; Wijekumar et al., 2019). These findings underscore the importance of professionalizing both prospective and incumbent teachers. However, further research is needed to learn more about the exact knowledge necessary to provide high-quality integrated reading instruction. Constructing and implementing a step-by-step approach to supporting students' text structure knowledge requires a wide range of texts: from short texts with a single and clearly recognizable structure to longer texts, with more complex structures or with a combination of structures. Since current teaching programs for science education do not yet provide for this, this poses an important task for educational publishers. In addition, we observe that teachers are increasingly selecting texts themselves, which again underscores the importance of professionalizing teachers in this area. A 219
