300 Appendices CURRICULUM VITAE Maider J. Echeveste Medrano was born on September 12, 1996, in Irun (Basque Country, Spain). She attended Santo Tomas Lizeoa in San Sebastian before moving to Bilbao to study Biology, specializing in Molecular Biology, at the University of the Basque Country (2014–2018) (Leioa, Spain). During her final year, she participated in an ERASMUS exchange at the University of Liège (Belgium), taking courses from the International Marine Environmental Resources Master’s program. She completed her Bachelor’s thesis with highest honors, focusing on desiccation tolerance in lichens at the Plant Ecophysiology Department. Her interest in environmental microbiology began during summer internships at the microbiology laboratory of the drinking water treatment plant in Astigarraga (Basque Country, Spain). In August 2018, she moved to Nijmegen (The Netherlands) to pursue a two-year Master’s degree in Microbiology at Radboud University. During her Master’s studies, Maider completed two internships: one at Radboud University’s Microbiology Department, investigating nitrogen-cycling microorganisms for sustainable wastewater treatment, and another at Colorado State University (Fort Collins, USA), where she gained experience in microbial bioinformatics. In November 2020, Maider began her PhD at the Microbiology Department of Radboud University. Over four years, she combined bioreactors and omics techniques to explore the physiology and metabolism of methane-oxidizing microorganisms involved in greenhouse gas mitigation. Her research included international visits and collaborations with the Center for Microbiome Research at Queensland University of Technology (Brisbane, Australia) and Basel University (Switzerland). Maider looks forward to joining forward-thinking companies where she can leverage her expertise in microbiology to drive sustainability and promote human health.
