While gaining experience as a midwife, students gain knowledge and understanding about MLCC. They experience the benefits of MLCC for mother and child and experience the implications on their own personal lives. While working to their full scope of practice, providing relational continuity, they experience their own added value for the client. Seeing and experiencing their own added value makes them more confident as a midwife, which empowers them to break the norm. Feeling motivated to provide MLCC after graduation and arrange their post-student lives in a way that enables this. 1 15 31 32 36 38 For those who only experience standard care, MLCC remains something unknown. Their individual perception about midwifery care and MLCC is influenced by the judgement of other stakeholders and midwives in standard maternity care. They conform to the norm of consistency. Due to a lack of knowledge, many assumptions are made towards MLCC. Midwives and other stakeholders working in standard care feel that this model is the norm for a reason.
