176 Results Study selection The literature search provides us with 445 unique records. Four hundred and nineteen studies were excluded based on title and abstract. Reasons for exclusion include, but are not limited to inappropriate study design, animalbased studies or publication in a language other than English. A total of sixteen studies were eventually included in this systematic review. A schematic overview of the study screening and selection process can be seen in Figure 7.1.
