230 Patient characteristics before matching Patient characteristics are summarised in Table 9.1. The adenomyosis group was on average 2.83 years older than the endometriosis group (p=0.013), 2.52 years older than the combined group (p=0.021) and 2.28 years older than the male subfertility controls (p=0.014) at the time of IVF treatment. Additionally, women with only endometriosis had more primary subfertility compared to women with adenomyosis (p<0.0005). The age at the time of the MRI diagnosis was also different between the study subgroups, with the adenomyosis group having the highest mean age at MRI diagnosis (37.71 years, p<0.0005). Other characteristics were comparable between groups. Adenomyosis and endometriosis subtypes also did not differ significantly between groups (p>0.05). The number of patients receiving (hormonal or surgical) adenomyosis/endometriosis treatment prior to IVF was also not significant (P>0.05).
